About TV Advertising

How much does it cost?

The cost of a television advertising campaign is affected by a few variables.

So what can make the difference?
:: The transmission area  the bigger the potential audience, the larger the budget required;

:: The time of year  some times of the year have more demand than others  and this has an impact on cost. The table below outlines the areas of high and low demand throughout a typical year;

Graph CPT 2005

:: Length  commercials are broadcast in factors of 10 seconds. Longer time lengths will mean a larger budget is required;

:: Time of day  viewing patterns throughout the day differ. To advertise in peak-time when the audience is highest costs more than in daytime or at night-time;

:: Frequency the number of times people see a commercial. The more times a commercial is shown, the more the campaign will cost. Advertisers generally try to ensure that their commercial is seen at least 4 times.

:: Scottish and Grampian TV offer excellent value to advertisers and on average represent a 25% discount against the ITV Network equivalent cost.
